Known as the coffee land of Karnataka, Chikmagalur is a hill station in the Western Ghats with trekking trails, coffee plantations, rivers and waterfalls. Mullayanagiri is the highest peak in Karnataka, and Baba Budangiri is a mountain range with pilgrimage sites.

Chikmagalur is the hill day of the Chikmagalur packages. After an overnight drive, the group goes up by jeep to the highest viewpoints in Karnataka, with lunch at the hill station and stops at falls and viewpoints through the afternoon.

Tips for college groups

• The peaks are windy and cool even in the dry months; carry a light jacket.
• Jeep roads are rough, so carry tablets if you get travel sick.
• Mullayanagiri has steps near the top; wear shoes with grip.
• Mornings are clearest for photos from the peaks.
