Board the ERS–Pune SF Express at Shornur in the morning. A full day and overnight on the train.
Arrive Pune before dawn and drive to Lonavala. Lohagad Fort and Bhaja Caves, then Bhushi Dam, Tiger Point and sunset at Khandala Point. Stay in Lonavala.
Drive to Matheran via Aman Lodge, with the toy train if available. Malang Point, Sunset Point, Louisa Point, Echo Point, King George Point, Charlotte Lake and Lord Point. Stay in Matheran.
On to Mumbai: art gallery, Gateway of India, the Taj hotel, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Colaba market and Marine Drive. Stay in Mumbai.
Elephanta Caves (ferry at own cost), Bandra–Worli Sea Link, Juhu Beach and Mohammed Ali Road as time allows. 8:35 PM train from Panvel, reaching Shornur the next evening.
